Swedish Modern Meets Denver Bungalow
Like so many other Denver bungalows on modest lots, this home needed to expand vertically to meet the space needs of a growing family. In addition to creating more square footage and an open floor plan, the priority for this family was to minimize the impact of the 2nd floor addition to the street. Stepping the second floor back to behind the original gables allow the existing home’s curb appeal to maintain the spotlight. Come inside, though, and the typically undersized bungalow rooms have been transformed into a spacious open concept living and dining area with a beautiful kitchen at the helm with generously sized sliding doors allowing the view and living space to spill outdoors. Each room is carefully crafted with modern Swedish simplicity that allows the spaces to breathe and focus on light and views, creating a relaxed airiness. The light hardwoods, white painted built-ins, monolithic counters and a minimalist fireplace mantel increase the sense of size within and extend beautifully both upstairs and outside, making this an easy retreat from the City.
